THE GARDEN IN MY NEW-BUILD HAS BEEN A DISASTER

A woman, who lives in a new-build, has revealed her garden has been causing her havoc.

The mother, who goes by CB on TikTok, originally had a 'lovely fresh garden' but she was left with a nightmare 'swamp' once rain began to pour.

Revealing her garden would be flooded after every bout of rain, the woman ended up with 'a massive swamp within months'.

In a now viral clip, which has over 5.5 million views, the content creator shared that ground workers had arrived to try and resolve the issue.

But one huge hole and a stretch of discoloured and mismatched yellow grass later, her garden was continuously overrun with water.

The following day, the contractors returned to install drains in her garden, however, she was unhappy with the state the lawn was left in.

'[I] complained it wasn't good enough leaving my garden in that state so [they] came back to dig up the garden and lay new grass,' she penned.

Although, the new build owner has been left with 'fresh new grass', she still lives in fear that her garden could transform back into a swamp at any given moment.

She also worries leatherjacket insects may descend on her garden, lumbering her with another huge gardening issue.

Leatherjackets are the soil-dwelling larvae of a crane-fly, also known as a daddy long legs.

They typically are found on lawn grasses as well as small plants and seedlings, according to the RHS.

Several yellowish-brown dead patches in your lawn or deteriorating seedlings are usually an indication leatherjackets are infesting your green space.

Social media users flooded the comments remarking how they would 'never' buy a new-build after watching the mother's video.

'You'd never catch me buying a new-build I'm sorry. I've not heard a single good thing said about them,' one penned.

A second chimed in: 'Wouldn’t buy a new-build if my life depended on it.'

'I wouldn't even bother contemplating buying a house built after 2000,' a third quipped.

'I would be terrified about all that water around the foundation of the house. You can essentially be guaranteed to have a leaking basement down the road,' said another worried viewer.

This happened with my new-build I complained time after time they only fixed it when it flooded through my patio doors on to my carpet

'In my new-build, they built the pipes into cement & the windows the wrong way so if they were left open, rain would just pour in,' a user revealed.

'Had a surveyor come out and just told me to get out ASAP.'

However, some came to the defence of the modern home, with one social media user writing:' ' [I] wouldn’t just say new-builds, my 1960s is the same.

'We’ve had to install proper drainage with a man hole and drains.'
