CREAM CHEESE RECALLED IN 8 STATES DUE TO SALMONELLA RISK

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration just announced a recall on Hy-Vee brand cream cheese and snack mixes. This is due to a possible Salmonella contamination.
Hy-Vee, the regional grocery chain, is recalling their store branded 8-ounce tubs of whipped cream cheese spread with best by dates “8/7/2024” or “8/14/2024,” 12-ounce tubs of plain cream cheese spread with best by date “10/1/2024” and cookies and cream flavored snack mixes with best by dates “12/1/2024” or “12/5/2025.” The products were sold at Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore and Dollar Fresh Market locations in the following states: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The voluntary recall was announced after a third-party manufacturer flagged the potential risk of foodborne illness. While no reports of illness are connected to this recall, Salmonella infection can be serious for those age 65 or older, young children and immunocompromised people. Common symptoms of Salmonella infection include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms after consuming one of the above recalled products, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Salmonella is very contagious, so be sure to wash your hands and any surfaces or food that may be exposed after handling these products.
Customers can return any recalled products to their local Hy-Vee location for a full refund. For questions about this recall, contact Hy-Vee Customer Care representatives at (800) 772-4098 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
