Utensils and eating etiquette around the world

Just like the food itself, the means by which people deliver food to their mouths comes from a great well of culture and history. Some of us have grown accustomed to using one form of utensils, but traveling is a quick way to find out that you've got a lot to learn. Knowing the correct etiquette for dining in different countries gives you a leg up with locals, prevents you from doing anything offensive, and, who knows, you might just prefer the slowed pace of metal chopsticks for barbecue, or the no-dishes-necessary breads used in place of forks. Why some couples can heal after infidelity, but others can't

We would all like to imagine that if we were cheated on, we would simply pack our bags, burn that bridge, and never look back. But it's hardly ever that simple, and that can actually be a good thing. Infidelity is one of the hardest things a couple can experience, and indeed it is a leading cause of breakups. But what is less talked about is how many couples actually work through the trauma, heal the wound, and come out stronger. Of course, every situation has to be evaluated uniquely, but cheating isn't nearly as black and white as we would like to think. And there are some major figures who have stayed with their cheating partner, so there must be some merit to it. But if there's one thing experts agree on when it comes to dealing with infidelity, it's that it is hard work, and some couples can't do or aren't aware of the necessary steps recommended by licensed professionals in order to properly restore a healthy relationship. The 1960s were fascinating years, as the decade marked the end of the Golden Age of Hollywood and the beginning of a period of liberation. The second wave of feminism encouraged women to embrace their sexuality in a new and empowering way. However, traditional Hollywood beauty symbols still held prominence in popular culture. Let's see which stars were considered the most beautiful women of the 1960s. Click through the gallery to get started.

These Insanely Helpful Garden Plants Keep the Mosquitoes Away

Say goodbye to the outdoor pests. Bugs come with the territory when you’re outdoors, but some are more tolerable than others. If it feels like mosquitoes are invading your yard, it’s understandable to want to do what you can to get rid of them. Enter mosquito repellent plants. Here’s the thing: Experts say that the best way to keep mosquitoes at bay is to use personal repellents recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But if you want to go a more natural route, you may be interested in selecting certain plants—they’re just not necessarily guaranteed to work as well as a spray. “The idea that planting certain plants around your home will successfully repel mosquitoes is only supported by anecdotal evidence and not empirical evidence,” says Eva Buckner, Ph.D., assistant professor and state extension specialist at the University of Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory. It’s important to note, though, that there is some evidence that certain plants may help discourage certain mosquitoes from setting up camp in your yard—they just don’t work as well as a chemical or spray. If it feels like your outdoor space is a haven to mosquitoes, it’s a good idea to “eliminate mosquito breeding grounds on and around your property by draining standing water from flowerpots, birdbaths, grill covers, baby pools, and other sources,” says Jim Fredericks, Ph.D., board-certified entomologist and senior vice president of public affairs at the National Pest Management Association (NPMA). Using a small fan outside may also help keep mosquitoes away since “they are not strong flyers,” Fredericks says. But if you like the look and smell of certain plants and want to see if they keep the mosquitoes away, too, there’s no reason not to try them. These are the plants fans swear are most likely to help get rid of mosquitoes. Snap up one or a few to enhance your outdoor space.

Discover your Human Design type and what it means

Attempting to decode the mysterious "why" of our human existence has been a trend since, well, forever. To do so, some look to the subconscious and unconscious mind, and the modalities that help us to understand it better: think astrology, tarot, and other archetypal practices. Human Design is unique in that it combines several ancient systems of wisdom: the I Ching, chakra system, astrology, Kabbalah, and Myers-Briggs (among others); blending them into a single system to produce five different energy types. These energy types each have different ways of relating to—and thriving in—the world. Practicioners believe that by learning to work with your energy type, you can make your life flow more easily.
