Merry Christmas! (At least in these countries)
For much of the Western world, Christmas is celebrated on December 25, according to the Gregorian calendar. However, Orthodox Christians follow the Julian calendar and have their Christmas on January 7 instead. Almost two weeks after their Western counterparts have already feasted and rung in the New Year, the Julian calendar marks the birth of Jesus Christ on a different day. Indeed, for several countries in Europe, including Ukraine, Serbia, Montenegro, Russia, Belarus, parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and African countries such as Egypt and Ethiopia, January 6 is Christmas Eve. In Ukraine in particular, even though a lot of people still celebrate Christmas on January 7, the country has changed the official date of celebration to December 25 since 2023. Intrigued? Were Neanderthals kissing each other and early humans?
What if the way we show affection isn’t just a human invention, but a bridge to our ancient cousins? Scientists traced microscopic mouth bacteria, studied primate behavior, and pieced together a story that spans millions of years, connecting humans, Neanderthals, and even our ape ancestors. The study offers a rare and fascinating glimpse into the intimate lives of our evolutionary family. Intrigued? Jump into this gallery and discover how love and curiosity may have flowed between humans and Neanderthals before history was written.

In Islam, Jesus (referred to as Isa) is not seen as the Son of God, but as a divinely chosen prophet and messenger of Allah. He holds a unique status among the prophets, while Islamic tradition describes him as a miracle-worker, a teacher of divine wisdom, and a righteous servant of God. But what are the differences in how Jesus is seen in Islam compared to Christian belief? And what does the Quran say about his life, his miracles, and his fate?
